The newly completed Madison County Early College accommodates 300 students in an 18,000 SF 2-story building on a site adjacent to the MCS Central Office. A new drop off circle and 60 parking spaces are provided in addition to a central courtyard. The site allows for future expansion in that the current Central Office and Wellness center could be merged to create a unified Early College campus as enrollment grows.
The design of the project complements the neighboring buildings while providing a distinct identity that is both unexpected and functional, helping provide a transition from the high school to the college environment. An administrative suite, 8 classrooms, 2 science labs, and a large, open multi-purpose room allow this high school program to grow as an alternative to the traditional high school program and send more graduates to college. The interior features vaulted ceilings, exposed structure, and industrial materials relevant to a science and technology focused curriculum.
