EBCI Finance Building

The design for an office building for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is based on the requirement for 3 distinct departments to coexist in one building with separate entrances, but shared support facilities.   Each floor houses an autonomous use that is connected by a vertical core that connects the different levels. The exterior façade is comprised of a central masonry spine, evocative of log cabin construction while the building’s skin is constructed of metal panels rotated to suggest a woven basket pattern. Several façade studies were performed to analyze pattern and color to create a dynamic exterior skin that is both economical and durable.
