University of North Carolina Asheville Observatory

The Observatory building for UNCA serves the University’s Physics department and local Astronomy clubs. The building is designed to allow multiple users to flow through the spaces starting with the Warming room (since colder weather offers better viewing conditions) where one would learn about what they are about to see in the Observatory. The observatory space itself is equipped with a retractable roof system and two structurally supported telescope mounts. Indoor/outdoor carpet and weather resistant materials were chosen since this space is not conditioned. Ample storage and toilet facilities were also included for the facility.
