Haywood Community College Public Training Facility

The HCC Public Services Training facility is comprised of a burn tower and a classroom building with an apparatus bay on the Haywood Community College Campus. The site will have a drafting pit and a steep slope extraction pad, as well as general gathering space.

The 4000 SF burn tower consists of 3 live burn rooms with gas fueled props. The tower has 2 large training rooms with flexible partitions to create various training scenarios for Fire, Law Enforcement, and EMS. The roof of the 4-story stair tower will be used to practice repelling skills.

The 12,500 SF classroom building is comprised of 2 apparatus bays for fire and ambulance vehicles, 5 classrooms, offices, a conference room, a break room, storage rooms, and restrooms with showers to serve the entire site. Copper colored standing seam metal waterfalls from the roof to the walls, contrasting with the light color of the split face block structure while the sloped roofs echo the mountains nearby.
