The Student Center Development for Asheville Christian Academy includes a 28,000 SF renovation to the campus’s central building and a new 6,000 SF addition connector to join the other two buildings to the central building. The second floor upfit in the central building houses the new middle school, featuring vaulted ceiling classrooms and labs. A central ‘gathering place’ gas been designed allowing students to congregate and meet for group study and before and after-school. The main floor includes a new central administration, a new student union, cafeteria and commercial kitchen. The main floor has been designed to be used as event space, with expansive windows overlooking mountain views.
The new connector joins all three buildings to create a single main entrance, reception and commons area with galleries featuring student work. The exposed vaulted structure, expansive glass and stonework provides an environment of beauty and attention to detail, providing an opportunity to create a stronger school identity and pride.
